Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is DG Pro?

A. DG stands for dispersible granule. Each uniform SGN 100 DG Pro particle will disperse into 56,000 individual particles upon contact with moisture. (irrigation, rainfall, dew). With approximately 25 particles per square inch (2.5cms) at typical applications rates, this ensures complete uniformity and uptake of nutrient.

Q. What is AnaLync?

A. AnaLync is a software package which uses lab results from a soil test to give nutritional and amendment guidelines for maximum turf health. AnaLync uses a database of soil samples from over 40,000 golf courses worldwide. It is the only soil testing method specifically designed for sportsturf.

Q. Why should I take a soil sample?

A. In order to establish excess and deficiencies in soil nutrients it is necessary to take soil tests.
Example: If we have an excess of nutrient, resources may be better spent on the necessary nutrients. (Why buy nutrients we don’t need). These excesses in soil nutrients will ‘lock up’ other soil nutrients, and impact on plant health.
Also, using AnaLync we can see how much of the soil reserves of nutrient are potentially available for plant use, and offer recommendations for the short, medium and long term needs for maximising plant health.

Q. Why do you have different application rates for foliar and soil products.

A. Some products are designed to stay on the leaf for foliar uptake and some are designed to go into the soil for root uptake or for soil conditioning. The higher water volumes for soil products are to carry the product off the leaf and through the crown area into the soil profile where it is designed to go.

Q. How come the foliar rate is so low?

A. Because TurfCare use only high grade raw materials, we can eliminate risk of scorch common with many lower end ingredients. These low end ingredients need water to reduce scorch potential. Higher water volumes mean more downtime filling, use of more product and dye indicator and more weight travelling on the golf course.

Q. What organic products do you have?

A. Liquids – Most of the Floratine products come from an organic base. We also supply SeaCare range of seaweed based liquids.

Granular – TurfCare supply GroPower organic fertiliser. This range is based on plant material which ensures full decomposition and no build up of thatch. Uniform SGN100 Particles and a low dust formulation ensure even application. Beneficial soil microbial and humic acids are also available from this product. As the material is plant based we can avoid problems with chlorides and other issues associated with animal waste products. Standard release and controlled release methylene urea formulations are available along with fairway grade products.

Q. Do you have a ‘phosphite’ product?

A. TurfCare provide Carbon Power 0-22-28 PK Fight phosphite product. Unlike other phosphite products on the market, which claim a source of phosphite, PK Fight has stabilised actual phosphite. This technology is patented, and unique to Floratine. Independent research continues to promote the benefits of phosphite in plant health and disease resistance and recovery.

Q. How can I move excess water/moisture off my greens during heavy rain to keep them playable and healthy?

A. Many green keepers apply a wetting agent through the spring and summer to aid with moisture retention and avoidance of localised dry spots. However, all of these retention agents have a residual effect. Good practise is to apply a penetrant during wet spells and through the autumn and winter periods. Pervade is used in this way to ensure moisture moves through the profile. Many green keepers tank mix Pervade with pesticides (such as Mildothane/ chlorprifos) to aid the active ingredients movement through the crown area of the plant and into contact with the pest.
