TurfCare Irrigation Process

Step 1: Design

Selecting an irrigation system can represent a substantial expenditure; however it must be viewed as a long term investment, with a good system having an expected lifespan of twenty years or more.

It is also more than sprinklers and computers, the bits you can see. The components that will be buried in the ground for the next twenty years are equally, if not more, important and often represent the largest chunk of the initial capital expenditure.

With the investment of such a significant amount of revenue, the proper design of the system is crucial. Often issues relating to incorrect pipe sizing and topographical considerations, such as elevation changes, are overlooked and mistakes like these can be very costly in the long term.

TurfCare Irrigation provides an in-house design service, utilising the latest CAD software. As every golf course, sports and amenity area is different so too is every irrigation system design. The benefits to our clients of providing tailor-made design solutions in-house ensure the optimum performance of any irrigation system and efficient cost-effective installation.

Step 2: Installation

TurfCare Irrigation staff have a wealth of experience in installing high specification Toro irrigation systems. Many of our staff are trained to the BTLIA (British Turf and Landscape Irrigation Association) diploma level, and have also been factory trained by Toro in the installation, test and commissioning of Toro sprinkler products and control systems.

We utilise the best and very latest technology in pipe installation methods e.g. methods used in the gas pipeline industries. Mains and laterals are Fusion welded, using computer controlled plastic jointing technology which gives a joint quality stronger than the pipe itself. Pipe diameters both large and small can be joined by this process, allowing long runs of pipe to be installed without mechanical coupling and absolute minimum disruption to the pitch or course.

TurfCare Irrigation has invested heavily in pipe installation plants and operates several specialist Case and Ditchwich Mole Ploughing and Trenching machines. In this way we can progress with a number of projects at one time and ensures high work rates and an efficient operation. We also have tracked excavators from 3 to 13 tons and Toro Workman and Kawasaki Mule Buggies.
