Hydroseeding

finn_hydroseeder.jpgWhat is Hydroseeding? Quite simply, Hydroseeding is the next generation of seed establishment, as it has proven to be an effective alternative to the costly, time-consuming and labour intensive laying of turf.

The method involves the application of a slurry/solution containing seed, mixed with fertiliser, mulch and other additives in a one step process to establish turf or vegetation as quickly as possible.

The ideal growing environment consists of:
  • Favourable Temperatures
  • Good Soil Conditions
  • golfcourse_after_hydroseeding.jpg
  • Beneficial Nutrients
  • Moisture
Hydroseeding encourages and creates this favourable growing environment which increases the establishment and growth of grass and other vegetation.

TurfCare Systems are the European main distributors of:
  • Finn Hydroseeders®
  • Finn Landscape Machinery
  • Finn Additive System® of hydroseeding consumables
  • EcoSeries range of mulches from Canadian Forest Products

How does it work?
Hydroseeding is a method of uniformity distributing seed of your choice grass/wildflower/legumes etc .It application_of_mulch.jpgis a suspended in a mixture of water, bonding agent and wood mulch mixed with fertiliser and weed inhibitor.

This biodegradable combination is sprayed through a high pressure hose onto the soil. This consistency provides a uniform spread of seed throughout the sprayed area. Each seed is suspended and are held securely in place by the mulch – which creates a mini-greenhouse effect, retaining water.

The mulch creates an environment that retains water and promotes germination. As the seeds are held in place by the mulch, washing runoff and erosion are inhibited, even on steep banks.

In all, the contact of the seed with the water gives faster germination and stimulates the seed to grow a healthy and deep root system.

The seed varies in relation to the area of application and the customer’s wishes, varying from lawn seed to native seeds with wildflowers added and also Tree seeds.

Fertilisers, especially those with high phosphorus content can be added to enhance root growth. Other products, such as soil amendments or chemicals can be added to the mix as needed. Trackifiers, to anchor the mixture to slopes and help seal in moisture are also a common addition.
